The moment you’ve been waiting for is finally here - you’ve found your person and are planning to spend the rest of your lives together. First of all, congratulations! This is such an exciting time for you and your spouse-to-be. There's no doubt that the hours, days, and weeks after a proposal will be whirlwinds. Thinking about so many things, contacting so many people, and accomplishing so much is overwhelming. Be careful not to overwhelm yourself! Most newly engaged people want to share the news with their friends as soon as possible and start planning their wedding. Where do you start? As long as you take care of the immediate tasks, you don't have to follow any strict order. Being committed to your love for the rest of your life is the best feeling, and planning your wedding together should be fun and exciting! Once you're engaged, here's where to start:
Pick Your Wedding Party
How many bridesmaids or groomsmen would you like? What's the importance of an even number to you? Do you mind odd numbers? Is there going to be a maid of honor or best man? You definitely want to get these things sorted out with your spouse-to-be before asking any of your friends to be a part of your big day.
Set The Date & Pick a Venue
It's best to book your wedding date and venue at least one year in advance, so if you're getting married in a year or two, start thinking about it now. Find out if your families have any conflicts. This is the most important place to start when it comes to planning a wedding, after all! Once you figure out the time frame for your date, start calling venues. It’s helpful to consider where geographically you’d like to get married and then start researching places online. Be sure to consider reviews and contact the venues directly to get more information and availability.
Find Your Dream Dress!
While you don’t have to immediately rush to find a dress, it’s definitely helpful to get started earlier rather than later! Dresses can take up to 6 months to arrive in-store once ordered, so we encourage our brides to start shopping at least a year out from the wedding date so you’ve got plenty of time to find some inspiration, book your appointment at a boutique, find your dress, and still have time for alterations. Our team at Allure Bridal Boutique is ready with open arms to help you find “the one!” If you’re ready to get started, book your appointment today! We have a special VIP appointment for brides that provides you with one-on-one professional styling and enough space for 4 guests. You can even opt for our Diamond appointment package, which can accommodate up to 10 guests for this even more personalized, memorable shopping experience!
